Staircase

Harry my 4 year old little sausage, what a big boy , we love him.

Ken and Paul doing a fantastic job , the hand rails are nearly finished and look fantastic , they moved onto the rest of the window seats yesterday afternoon , off to Ireland for Harrys birthday look for ward to seeing you next week .

Its draining

Spent yesterday afternoon clearing 10 years of debris from the old drains so as the temporary kitchen solution is usable , not much fun but quite satisfying when it flows.

Installed a new foul drain which I am very proud of , dads help was invaluable wish he would get more involved he makes light of all things I stress about , knowledge is the key , I swear he looks younger when he is working with us too.Decided I am never retiring it seems to make men particularly , get old ; I think we all need a sense of purpose even if it is work.

Here are the pictures.

Stairs at Last

Moment of truth and it all looks great , was a little worried re the hand rail it looked quite severe in the catalogue but works a treat , be glad not to be up and down ladders anymore.

Really starting to take shape now!

Need to sit a while.

First stage of finishing the windows , we have the first window seat in 4 to go and then the shutters.

Then add a Work service!

New Living Room Fire

Here are the boys full of their selfs after doing a cracking job on our new fire.

Found it in a barn covered in paint and after loads of work and panic its finally in and working.

It really was a stresser lighting it for the first time and hoping to God it did not blow back , I only state this as I spent 7 days one Christmas in Ireland making a fire with a local Blacksmith and getting it fitted ready for Christmas eve and the big striking up.

Low and behold the whole bloody house was full of smoke and stank for days.

Can not wait to drink a dram in front of it.

An American Oak

Thanks Nigel Jowett for the tree.

If you look hard enough you may see a smile on Marius' face my mistake it was just a little wind.

Heat Pump

On with the last of the trenches , not the easiest job in the world as they all keep collapsing , good old Marius has been a champion.

Thought we would have all sorted in a week or so 4 days drilling holes into the house and a broken digger put an end to that thought.

Will let you know how it all works , in a week or so.

Had a nightmare this week , the new chimneys we rebuilt with the old bricks are sucking more moisture in than a yorkshire miner on a Saturday night.hope we have resolved it now , was a bit down with it all last week , but what does not kill you makes you stronger , to top it all we had our appeal dismissed for planning , hey ho!!!

Plumbing looks great though and the quarry tiled floor looks the piece

First Go At Hedge Laying

A good job done!
Laying the hedge.
Before!

What a fantastic day and the reason I wanted the farm in the first place. Thanks to Nigel , Robin and Marius more to go but what a difference it makes .

it was dark when we finished so I will try and post a photo tomorrow.

We had a natter round the fire when we were done and Robin my neighbour said it was his best day in a long while , I have to agree , that from a man of the land for 50 odd years priceless.

Thanks
